Story Strategist. Creative Director. Brand Architect.
Kandice Head has a decade of experience in digital content creation, graphic design, narrative development, brand strategy, email marketing, and media relations. As a proudly queer, Black, fourth-generation Chicagoan, she approaches storytelling with intention—crafting intersectional narratives and strategic frameworks that drive impact. Whether revitalizing a brand, spearheading a campaign, or shaping messaging that amplifies underrepresented voices, she recognizes that compelling storytelling and thoughtful strategy are the foundation of powerful social movements.
Kandice launched her career in 2017 as an Assistant Account Executive at Ogilvy before transitioning into roles that merged communications with social impact. She served as a Communications Specialist at the Forum for Youth Investment and while working as a freelance Storyteller for Measure What Matters. In 2020, she became the Communications Manager for the Funders’ Collaborative on Youth Organizing, where she honed her expertise at the intersection of social justice philanthropy and strategic communications. Now, as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Chicago Foundation for Women, she leverages her skills to elevate voices, drive systemic change, and build narratives that shape the future of philanthropy and gender equity.
Beyond marketing and philanthropy, Kandice’s passion for storytelling is deeply personal. Her debut collection of poetry and prose, A Black Girl’s Symphony, (2020) is a raw exploration of identity, love, and liberation. She is also a small business owner, offering book coaching and narrative consulting for writers, poets, and aspiring authors. She is passionate about helping others shape their stories with clarity, resonance, and impact. A champion for the arts and social justice, Kandice sits on the board of the Chicago Poetry Center, where she supports the organization’s anti-racism initiatives and communications efforts.
She holds a Bachelor of Journalism in Strategic Communication from the University of Missouri. Her philosophy is simple: build with intention, tell stories that matter, and never stop creating. She thrives at the intersection of branding, narrative development, and movement-building, working alongside disruptors and changemakers who dare to imagine new possibilities. She is deeply rooted, globally-minded, and ready to take up space—building, shaping, and amplifying narratives that redefine the future.
